For the third iteration of "Garbage Party", I was invited to participate in a temporary public art lab in Burlington, ON. My very special, handcrafted bin was installed in Spencer Smith Park along the Burlington Waterfront for a month (Sept. 27 - Oct. 25, 2019) and was accompanied by a 5-day durational performance by The Hobbyist at the end of the installation period.
During this performance I focussed a lot on conducting surveys with the many passersby that I encountered during my 3 hour daily site-visits. This park was exceptionally free from litter and so I had to adjust my performance to suit the park it was situated in. Overall, I conducted 95 surveys and gathered data about people's perceptions of the climate crisis and their contributions to/participation in the waste and recycling services in the local area. More photos of the installation and performance can be seen in "Performance". All images courtesy of Burlington Public Art.
