Garbage Party is an interactive public art installation where visitors are asked to engage with a 10ft long, handcrafted waste receptacle that will be installed in two Lethbridge locations this September: from the 15th-21st in Galt Gardens Park adjacent to the Rotary Fountain, and from the 22nd-28th near the Baroness Picnic Shelter in Indian Battle Park.
This temporary art installation asks the public questions about their relationship with waste and recycling, presenting a playful and absurd site in which to engage in conversations about our consumer society and the impact of the waste it generates. The artist will be present daily from 2-4pm to perform on-site maintenance, sort and analyze collected trash, and talk with visitors. ** On September 22nd from 2-4 there will be a coulee clean-up co-organized with the Helen Schuler Nature Centre. Meet at the installation to get set up with supplies and oriented in the art of picking trash! This project is funded by a City of Lethbridge Small Projects Grant.
