Just send me an email or an Instagram DM to claim your copy! This book is something I have had in the works for a really long time so I am incredibly happy to be able to share it with you all now. I have wanted to make an Etsy shop for sooooooo long now, I can't believe I have finally done it!
I will be selling various handmade objects and a small selection of hand-embroidered vintage clothing. Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind and waiting to be taken in to the world of their new owner! Check it out and share with your friends :) A special selection of my handmade patches and other items are available for purchase at the AAC Works Shop, either online or in their brick and mortar location in Lethbridge (318 7th St. S.)
I have two very fancy beaded knit tote bags available, inspired by some of my favourite makers, Laerke Bagger and Susan Alexandra. Each bag is made from nylon twine and pony beads, with a cotton/poly blend lining, smartphone pocket, and snap closure. Get 'em while you can! I have been busy creating my first artist book, "Garbage Party: A Collection of Thoughts about Trash". I will be releasing the first edition at the beginning of April so STAY TUNED!!! Here is a sneak preview of the cover...
Just picked up my exhibition, "New Materialisms" from the Lebel Art Mansion in Pincher Creek, AB. This show was up in their expanded gift shop (due to Covid-19) and was up from mid-January.
I received a ton of donations of plastic waste materials from visitors to this exhibition: more than I have ever received in any one location! Thank you!! Documentation of "Consumption Therapy Chamber" included in Volume 9 of Emergency Index. Check out this great project and order your copy HERE.
As part of Arts Days 2020 I installed work in the AAC Kiosk in Rotary Square (outside of Casa). This work was only viewable over the weekend. Over the past few months I have been making several small hanging "fascinators" from discarded and thrift-store-collected materials. I am not sure where exactly these pieces are heading in relation to my larger body of work but it was great to show them off and get some feedback!
Hosted a small workshop last night at Casa where we crafted with trash. Participants had free-range to work with some materials that I had collected and brought from home. A few people even brought in their own collections of potentially-useful plastic waste to craft with! Botanical forms were the dominant theme of the evening but we all had a good time talking about waste and the ways that we can use discarded material to create our own handicrafts.
For the month of September I will be the artist-in-residence at Casa in Lethbridge. My project involves experimenting in the clay studios, transforming some of my molded-plastic clamshell forms into ceramic pieces. I have never worked in clay before so this will be a huge learning experience!!
Here are a few images of my time so far... I have been making plaster molds for slip casting and washing 300 or so potato chip bags and shiny snack packages. I am really happy to be included in Watch Your Head, an online anthology of artists and writers working through ideas about the climate crisis. You can find the link to my contribution HERE. My work isn't included in the book but there is a ton of great writing, poetry and art that is! The online portion of this project is extensive so be sure to check out all of the great contributions to be found there!
